workshop

My aim from the start was to set up a workshop. Nowadays this can be a little tricky since creative processes in art undergo changes and evolve quite rapidly with the use of digital - computer technologies as well as with the fairly recent Eco sensitive approach.

Printmaking in particular has been affected by digital printing and multimedia.

Nonetheless the press still remains the heart in a printmaking workshop.

teaching

I have had the privilege to teach printmaking at the Technological Institute of Athens, and the Cultural Programs - Municipal of Athens. Also at the Painting department, Vakalo School of Art & Design.
The works shown here are made by the students at Vakalo School and the Technological Institute of Athens.

The prints are linocuts or stencils, black & white and color in approximately A4 or A3 size.

Teaching printmaking is a rewarding experience because of the response of the students. Cutting a lino plate or a stencil mask is more strict, more rigid than the making of a pencil drawing. The gestures and the shades became difficult to make, so students seek altervative visual tools to visualise forms and shapes within their images, thus extending their palette vocabulary.
